MANAGING COMMITTEE
Managing Committee of Delhi SPCA was constituted vide Notification No.F.12(357)/AHD/2014/43020 dated 03.09.2014 for a tenure of 3 years which lasted till 02.09.2017. After that no Managing Committee has been constituted and Delhi SPCA is being functional under the administrative control of Development Commissioner being head of the Development Department as per the GIA rules. Delhi SPCA. Director (Animal Husbandry) is the Secretary under the approval of Hon’ble L.G.
A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister (Dev.) on 08.04.2022 wherein the issue of re-constitutions of Managing Committee of Delhi SPCA was discussed in detail and it was decided that since Delhi Animal Welfare Board (DAWB) is under process of constitution, therefore, the re-constitution of managing Committee of DSPCA is not relevant at this stage.
In compliance of Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 06.08.2008 in WP (c) 440/2000 and 13.07.2015 in WP (c) 881/2014, Delhi Animal Welfare Board has been constituted and notified on 18.04.2023 under approval of Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi. The Board has its office at the Delhi SPCA Premises and it will supervise and co-ordinate with all the 11 District SPCAs notified on 26.04.2022 under the Rule 3(1) of PCA (Establishment and Regulation of Societies for Prevention of Cruelty Animals) Rules, 2001. Accordingly, Delhi SPCA will be wound-up and taken over by the DAWB shortly. The winding-up of Delhi SPCA and its transfer to the Board is agreed upon in-principle and already in process as per rules.
