The Society for prevention of Cruelty to Animals Delhi-SPCA-is among the first institutionalized responses in India to the challenge of providing protection to the animals against cruelty.The objects of the Society are to prevent cruel treatment and to secure the welfare of animals.At the time of its inception in 1915, the only other such society at the global level was the one in United Kingdom-the Royal SPCA.
